The pre-webinar sequence

Hey {FIRST NAME},

You're registered for the Build It Masterclass on Tuesday 17 November at 7:30pm UK time.

Your free Fee Check worksheet is waiting for you in the WhatsApp group, along with the live link and reminders. I don't send it by email, so jump in now: [WHATSAPP LINK]

Do the Fee Check on your last project before Tuesday. It takes ten minutes, and it'll make the first part of the session land much harder.

See you there.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

A few people have asked what we're actually covering on Tuesday, so here's the plain version.

The Build It method is how I priced, sold and filled the diary for my own design and staging studio, the one I went on to sell.

It comes down to three things. Your fee comes from your own numbers. Your discovery call has a shape, so it ends in a proposal and not in “I'll have a think”. And your finished projects get turned into content that brings the next enquiry in.

On Tuesday I'll walk you through all three, with the actual pages and calculators I use.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

Here's a sum most designers have never done.

Say you want to pay yourself £45,000 a year and the business costs £12,000 to run. Your fees need to bring in £57,000.

Now count the days you can actually charge for. Take out admin, sourcing trips, travel and holidays, and you're often down to around 140.

£57,000 divided by 140 is £407 a day. If you've been quoting projects at £250 a day without realising it, that's the gap.

These are example numbers. On Tuesday we'll do it with yours.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

I didn't come into design with a business background. I came from cabin crew, with no contacts and no idea how to price anything.

My first projects were priced by guessing. I was busy all the time and I genuinely couldn't have told you whether I was making money.

What changed things wasn't a better portfolio. It was sitting down and doing the sums properly, then building every fee from them.

Eight years later I sold the studio. Now I spend my time helping designers and stagers do the same, and Tuesday is the best hour of it I can give you for free.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

I know what a few of you might be thinking. Your area's different, your clients are price-sensitive, and if you put your fees up you'll lose the work.

I thought that too. What I found was that clients weren't put off by the number. They were put off by me sounding unsure when I said it.

Rachel, a home stager in Kent, told me she'd just won two projects higher than she'd ever charged before. She's in the same area with the same kind of client. What changed was how she worked out the number and how she said it.

That's the second part of Tuesday. I'll show you the exact order the call goes in.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

Quick heads up on what to expect on Tuesday.

First, how to work out your real day rate and project fee from your own numbers. You'll leave with your own day rate.

Second, the discovery call script that turns “what do you charge?” into a signed proposal.

Third, how to turn one finished project into a month of posts that bring in enquiries.

Bring a pen, your last project's numbers and about 90 minutes. If you can, sit at your desk rather than on your phone. You'll want to write things down.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

Rima's an interior designer in Surrey. Talking to camera was the last thing she wanted to do.

She did it anyway, once a week, using the Show the Work prompts. She told me it's brought her so many views and an enquiry.

One finished project can give you a month of posts like hers. I'll show you exactly how on Tuesday, post by post.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

Fair question, and I'd rather answer it now.

Most of Tuesday is teaching. You'll get the pricing sum, the call structure and the content method in full, whether or not you ever work with me.

At the end I'll tell you how you can work with me if you'd like more help. You can leave before that part. Nobody will mind.

And if you stay to the very end, there's a free gift for everyone who's still there.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

Tomorrow at 7:30pm UK time. Three small things will make it twice as useful:

Do the Fee Check on your last project (it's in the WhatsApp group). Have a rough idea of your yearly business costs. And think of one call that ended in “I'll have a think”.

The live link goes out in the group, so make sure you're in it: [WHATSAPP LINK]

Hey {FIRST NAME},

I already know what some of you woke up thinking. You're busy, you've got a site visit, maybe you'll catch the replay.

Come live if you can. The pricing exercise works far better when you do it alongside everyone else, and I'll be answering questions in the chat as we go.

7:30pm UK time. The link's in the WhatsApp group.

Hey {FIRST NAME},

We start in an hour. Grab a pen and your last project's numbers.
